Actor / Musician
Born in South Amboy, New Jersey, and raised in Sayreville, Greg Evigan discovered his passion for performance early. While in high school, he won acclaim as Cornelius Hackl in "Hello, Dolly!," which earned top honors at the New Jersey High School Musical Contest. Just one month after graduating in 1971, he landed a role in the Broadway production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and later toured nationally in "Grease," playing the lead. These early stage successes launched a career that has since spanned more than 100 film and television credits.
Greg rose to fame in the late 1970s and 1980s with two iconic television roles: B.J. McKay in "B.J. and the Bear" and Joey Harris in "My Two Dads." Both series remain fan favorites, and Greg also performed their memorable theme songs. Expanding his career into film, he starred in the 1989 sci-fi thriller "DeepStar Six." In the 1990s, he reunited with the genre in "TekWar," the William Shatner–created franchise that began as a series of television movies and evolved into a syndicated series. He went on to appear as Dr. Dan Hathaway in "Melrose Place" and later took on a lead role in "Pacific Palisades," playing one of a group of Midwesterners starting fresh in California.
Evigan’s other film credits include the Joey Travolta–directed drama "Mel" (1998), the psychological thriller "Spirit" (2001) opposite Elisabeth Moss, "Arizona Summer" (2004), the Western "6 Guns" (2010), and the Hallmark Channel holiday movie "Once Upon a Holiday" (2015). On television, he starred in projects such as "Our House" with Doris Roberts for Hallmark, "Captive Hearts" for Lifetime, "Straight from the Heart" with Teri Polo, "Molding Clay," and the Mary Higgins Clark adaptation "He Sees You When You’re Sleeping." In 2018, he returned to daytime television in a multi-episode guest arc on "General Hospital" as Jim Harvey.
He has also made memorable guest appearances on hit shows including "CSI: Miami" (as Sean Walsh in “Money Plane”) and "JAG" (as the Master Chief of a submarine in “Empty Quiver”). These roles, spanning genres from drama to action to thriller, highlight Greg’s reputation as a versatile actor able to move seamlessly between television, film, and stage.
In addition to acting, Greg has maintained a vibrant career in music. A classically trained pianist, he recorded a New Classical album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios in London. On the popular music front, he co-wrote “Mirror Image” with his son Jason, featured on The Osbourne Family Album, which went Gold. A multi-instrumentalist on piano, drums, and saxophone, Greg writes and performs in a wide variety of styles.
From Broadway to Hollywood to the recording studio, he continues to bring authenticity and energy to every project, earning his place as a beloved and enduring figure in entertainment.
