Robert Duncan McNeill

Robert Duncan McNeill is an acclaimed actor, director, producer, and writer whose career spans more than four decades in television, film, and theater.

Most recently, Robert served as Executive Producer, Director, and Writer on all four seasons of the hit sci-fi comedy “Resident Alien,” created by Chris Sheridan and starring Alan Tudyk for UCP, Amblin Television, and Dark Horse Entertainment. The series earned the Hollywood Critics Association Award for Best Cable Comedy Series in 2021. In 2024, Robert received an ASTRA Award nomination for Best Director in a Broadcast or Cable Comedy Series for directing and co-writing the acclaimed Season 3 finale, "Homecoming."

As one of television's most accomplished directors, Robert has directed well over 100 episodes across a wide range of genres, including science fiction, action, drama, and comedy. His ability to balance character-driven storytelling with humor, suspense, and emotional depth has made him one of the industry's most sought-after episodic directors.

Robert spent five seasons as Producer/Director on the beloved NBC action-comedy “Chuck,” and has also served as Executive Producer/Director on “Turner & Hooch” for Disney+, Marvel's “The Gifted” for FOX, “The Arrangement” for E!, and “Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce” for Bravo. His producing and directing credits also include “666 Park Avenue” and “What About Brian” for ABC.

A highly respected pilot director, Robert helmed the pilot episode of the hit ABC comedy “Samantha Who?”, starring Christina Applegate, Melissa McCarthy, and Jean Smart. He also directed and produced the pilot for NBC's medical drama “Heartbeat,” which was picked up to series.

Before stepping behind the camera, Robert enjoyed a successful acting career that included film, television, and Broadway. A graduate of The Juilliard School (Group 17), he appeared on Broadway in “Six Degrees of Separation” and earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for his role as Charlie Brent on “All My Children.” His film credits include “Masters of the Universe” alongside Courteney Cox, Dolph Lundgren, and Frank Langella.

Robert is best known around the world for portraying Lieutenant Tom Paris throughout all seven seasons and 172 episodes of “Star Trek: Voyager,” starring Kate Mulgrew. He first stepped into the ‘Star Trek’ universe as Nick Locarno in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” before returning to create one of the franchise's most beloved characters. It was during his time on ‘Voyager’ that he began directing, launching a second career that would eventually encompass multiple series across the ‘Star Trek’ franchise.

In 2020, Robert reunited with his longtime friend and ‘Voyager’ co-star Garrett Wang to launch the hit podcast The Delta Flyers, where the pair revisit and discuss every episode of “Star Trek: Voyager.” The podcast has since expanded to cover “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” with regular appearances by Armin Shimerman and Terry Farrell, and continues to be a favorite among ‘Star Trek’ fans around the world.
